My beautiful niece, Mimi, is 8 today.... Happy birthday gorgeous xxx
As my sister and her husband and children are missionaries they move frequently and therefore space is at a premium, so when thinking about what they would like for their birthdays, you always have to take that into consideration. I asked Misty, my sister what Mimi might like and she reminded me that, for Christmas, I made a book cover for Evan, my nephew, and that this would be a great idea for Mimi too. So armed with my pile of dyed vintage blankets....
... and thoughts of a small girl who loves colour, flowers, fairies and all things girly, I came up with this...
The cover comes off so she can change the book inside when she has filled the pages with her adventures to Macedonia.
I hope she likes it...
These are the covers that I made for my nephews for Christmas... Evan wants to be an astronaut when he grows up, hence the rocket applique...
I also found him some astronaut food ... dried ice-cream.. mmmm!!!
My other nephew lives in Scotland overlooking a Loch and loves sailing...
Its amazing what a few old blankets, boxes of dye and imagination can produce... I loved making these bags and couldn't wait to give them as gifts to my family. It gives me so much pleasure to make presents and think of the person who will receive the gift as I do so....
This is my favourite one... what do you think?
Happy holiday xxx
I almost forgot.. thanks to all you lovely ladies who left me such encouraging and welcoming comments and thanks to Jane for her recommendation, I am really touched..
